The Double Consciousness of the African

The Double Consciousness of the African

THE STRUGGLE BETWEEN MAAT AND ISFET (Twenty)

What does it mean to have a double consciousness? The primary cause of double consciousness is what we can call the phenomenon of identity crisis. The crisis of identity usually creates a distorted conception of the self. Thus, the double consciousness of the African is more or less a product of the European invention of the Africa that never was, and yet it is rooted in the eternal struggle between MAAT and ISFET. Identifying with the African brand had naturally created a double consciousness on the people who call themselves Africans. For instance, when an African says that he is a Muslim, or a Christian or an Hebrew Israelite, it is double consciousness. When an African claims to be more Catholic than the Pope, it is laughably a double consciousness. It is this double consciousness that creates the identity crisis among the Africans.

There is nothing in creation that expresses the truthfulness of the human life far greater than the human spirit. In other words, the human spirit is the root of all values, both good and evil. If we do not have value for the human spirit, whatever value we may give to other things is baseless.

What is this double consciousness of the African that does not have a definite value for what is good and what is evil? What is this African life that does not know its enemy? What is this African life that keeps thinking and doing the same thing and always expect different results? Why is the African afraid to come out of the box that was not created by him? The African is stranded in a loop going nowhere because of this phenomenon called double consciousness. Why is the African afraid to change his way of life or his way of doing things when it is obvious that his way of life or his way of doing things cannot work for the greater good of the people?

The indigenous people of our beloved continent became stagnant when they accepted the Hebrew assumption that there were no laws before Moses. When they were enslaved and colonized, they began to be called Africans because they became obsolete and stopped growing. The people whose ancestors built many of the wonders of the ancient world lost their original capacity for growth and became objects that could be manipulated by foreigners and invaders. Instead of uniting against their enemies, they began to take sides with one foreign ideology or the other. They began to call themselves Hebrew Israelites, Christians or Muslims for they have been torn asunder living in two worlds without belonging to either one. They could not look at the world through their own eyes for they cannot see beyond their present circumstance.

Let us use an egg as an analogy: If an egg is broken by an outside force, the life of that egg will end. But if the egg is broken by an inside force, a new life will begin to emerge. Great things tend to begin from the within and not from the without. The person who is being acted upon by an outside force is defeated when there is no equal and opposite reaction from the within because of the absence of a coherent ideology. This absence of a coherent ideology exposes the African to malignant forces which have imposed on the African personality a double consciousness, being incapable of asserting himself in any meaningful manner.

It is without any doubt that the African double consciousness cannot be understood without the recognition of the eternal struggle between MAAT and ISFET. This double consciousness has made it extremely difficult for the African to develop a coherent ideology of what it means to be human. The invention of the Africa that never was removed our beloved continent from the respectable commentary of world history and classified the African as a lesser being. As a result, the people who call themselves Africans have been misinformed and do not know the historical contributions of the continent of KEMET in human development. But we are not Africans. We are the People of KEMET.

When the Romans conquered and destroyed Carthage, they renamed the conquered territory the “province of Africa”. This was how the name “Africa” began as a geographical expression, representing a tiny landmass in the continent of KEMET. How the province of Africa of the Romans came to be associated with the entire continent is the evil machinations of the European imperialists. When the European slave trade began, the name Guinea came into an initial usage and this name “Guinea” was a corruption of the name Ghana, the Medieval Empire of Ghana. The name “Guinea” was later abandoned by the Europeans and the name “Africa” began to be applied on the entire continent of KEMET for reasons best known to the Europeans.

There were never a people within our beloved continent who called themselves Africans. The Europeans invented the Africa that never was and made it to seem like it is the name of our beloved continent. After the invention of the Africa that never was, what the Europeans were writing about Africa were mostly based on their own imaginations, fantasies and delusions. There is nothing authentic about the invented Africa of the European imagination and there is no reason why anybody or group in our beloved continent should be referred to as African or Africans. The Africans have never asked themselves why are they called Africans? These Africans never asked themselves what values does Africa represent? There is no Africa anywhere in the world except in the European imaginations and those who call themselves Africans are deceived and are ignorant of EKUMEKU.

The People of KEMET are known for their civilization both in the ancient and in the contemporary historical epoch. What can the Africans be known for? We are the People of KEMET whose ancient civilization can never be disputed. We can never be the Africans who contributed nothing positive to human civilization. The continent of KEMET is the original home of human civilization and the people who represent this civilization are not and will never be in the need of an imposed narrative of who they are. The greatest mistake of the so-called Africans is the selling of their birthright to unknown strangers of another continent, wrongly thinking that it would make them to be accepted or to be relevant. Since they sold their birthright, they have been stranded going nowhere in the world of ideas.

To see the world through the eyes other than one’s own is a secondary part of the human life; but to see the world solely through the eyes other than one’s own is pathetic and it is a sign of weakness. The hatred against the African is contrived and deliberate, which is used to keep the African in a perpetual condition of striving to live up to the expectation of looking at the world through the eyes of others. The corrosive imagery of the African, created and defined by others, is a deliberate concoction of facts projected to make the African seem incapable of tackling his problems and to also make him seem powerless and hopeless, always in the need of external assistance from the other. But the fact remains that the branding of the African makes the prevalent negative imagery the major framework upon which the Africans can easily be manipulated and confounded.

The mental condition of most Africans and the deliberate conditioning by the externalized forces in cohort with certain elements within the continent perpetuate the African double consciousness. A permanent state of paralysis is the most appropriate description of the mental condition of this African double consciousness. Without any doubt, the Africans living in agreement with the false notion of the Hebrew assumption that there were no laws before there was a Moses are incapable of asserting themselves fully without the transformation that comes with the new self-definition that has transcended the pathetic double consciousness of the African.

The evil that the Africans battle against is very powerful and without the Almighty Spirit of EKUMEKU, the Africans cannot become the People of KEMET. The enemy has a stronghold on the mind of the Africans and the Africans are no match for the enemy because their double consciousness keeps them in ignorance of the enemy. The African Muslim is fighting against the African Christian and the Hebrew Israelite. Also, the African Christian fights against the African Muslim and Hebrew Israelite because all of them are looking at the world through the eyes of others. This fight among Africans can never end until the People of KEMET become the dominant force in our beloved continent of KEMET.

The spiritual and ideological unity that is destined to become manifest can only be realized through the People of KEMET who must supplant and displace the double consciousness of the Africans. The Africans can never be united for they are divided into many factions, as followers of the religions of ISFET. The Africans live in the periphery of the two worlds of MAAT and ISFET and cannot be trusted without them having any definite values. We the People of KEMET are not Africans and do not follow any of the religions of ISFET. No doubt, the African can only reclaim his stripped identity by undergoing the process of the Being and the Becoming of the Kemite. This process that every African ought to undergo is the true meaning of self-definition. This is the voice of sufficient reason and those who are reasonable would understand its message and act upon it without any hesitation. Therefore, the Almighty Spirit of EKUMEKU is the Ultimate Reality and any African who cannot struggle to overcome evil by doing good would never become a Kemite in this life.
